Spaceballs - Dark Helmet Costume Replica & Ludicrous speed version
What a journey! Recreating the Spaceballs Dark Helmet costume was quite a challenge. 18 months total of analysis, trial and error to create the most accurate version of our beloved Dark Helmet. We even had to build a custom Vac Form table to create the helmet. All the components were sculpted by hand. After many months of research, we were able to recreate the same opening mechanism as seen in the movie.
And since we made the original version, we had to create he broken version from the ludicrous speed scene! A classic!

Yes, this is a costume. People tend to think it's a mannequin. It's not! This custom build of the Predalien from the movie (Alien vs. Predator: Requiem AVP-R) was made of foam hand sculpted with a sharp blade. One of the custom replica we are most proud of.

This entire project is sculpted from clay, mold in Smooth-on Rebound 25 and made of rotocasing plastic. Her hair are made of flex foam it. Based on a Rubies costume, Deluxe Edition, the armor was remodeled and new components were added such as shoulders and feet. The armor was repainted with car quality lacquer.
